'Be Kind, Work Hard'

Welcome to Penguins!

Who can help us in the community?

This term we will be learning about different roles people do within our community. For the next 3 weeks we will be learning about Vets, Postal workers and Refuse collectors.

As always, we love to hear about what you have been doing outside school. Please let us know what interesting things you have been up to using our class email penguinsandparrots@gmail.com

Can you time yourself doing different activities using this timer? Maybe tidying up your toys or getting dressed for school?

We are very pleased with how our indoor provision is looking! We are continuing to improve it to make it the best environment for Penguins to learn in!

PE and Dance will be on TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS. The children will be expected to come to school in their PE kits on these days.

Please also send a spare set of uniform and underwear to keep in school.

Your child may bring their own bottle to school (water only!)

PLEASE NAME EVERY ITEM OF YOUR CHILD'S CLOTHING AND BELONGINGS!

Please take time to read with your child EVERY DAY - little and often is best!

Please also sign the children's diary so that they can receive stickers which lead to prizes!

Have a (virtual) look around our school!

Bedtime Stories from Mrs Bliss!

We had a great time learning all about Chinese New Year. We tasted some Chinese food and enjoyed performing our own 'Dragon Dance!'

Don't forget to check Purple Mash weekly for activities related to our learning

https://www.purplemash.com/

We had a great time in Book Week.

We made delicious fruit kebabs after learning about 'Handa's Surprise' and we loved getting dressed up as our favourite book characters!

We also went on a 'Story Hunt' with interactive retellings of 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne, 'Coming to England' by Dame Floella Benjamin, and 'Island Counting 1,2,3' by Frané Lessac. We had great fun!

As part of our Maths work, we went on a number hunt adventure around school!

We have had a great first few weeks at school;

exploring our provision and making friends!

For your information here are some of the documents which support the planning for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Please also help us to help the children by reinforcing the sounds being taught at school. Phonics is the method by which we teach reading and writing. Here are some videos which demonstrate the correct pronunciations.
